IHMA Fund Raising Event 2008

This to inform everyone that the scheduled Fund raising event set on September 26, 2008-friday will be moved on September 27, 2008-Saturday. This is due to the unavailability of the  Napalan Sports Center  on the said date. Hope that everyone will help in any way so that this activity will be a success.

Boxing Showdown is coming

The Paquiao-Marquez II refered by the sports analyst as one of the best boxing showdown of this year.

On March 15, 2008 (March 16 in the Philippines), Bob Arum of Top Rank said that it will be a blockbuster boxing show in the world which our very own Filipino boxing star Manny Paquiao and the reigning WBC superfeatherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez  fighting for the latters championship belt at 130 pounds.

The two fighters met their first fight last 2004 where Manny Paquiao brought Marquez in the canvass for three times but the latter recover in the later rounds and ended up a controversial draw.

Many people said it was a controversial decision but Manny reiterated in his column in philboxing.com that he will do his best so that no more reason that He will be cheated in the fight. But JM Marquez also said in their press conference that MP is not a Mexican killer because he did’nt beat himself.

In this fight MP assures through his column that he is in the best condition, shape and focus and will do the best to beat the mexican champion. On the other hand, many analyst believe that JMM is very much prepared for the fight that could give MP a problem in the ring because He had trained for so long.  

But the showdown is coming, Lets wait and see if who among them said the same as what will be the history to tell.

Donaire, Bautista and Banal Wins

A spectacular sunday for the Philippine boxing as Donaire, Bautista and Banal Wins.  

Nonito Donaire still the reigning IBF IBO flyweight champion held at Foxwood Casino, Mashantucket, Connecticut last Sat. Dec. 1, 2007 (Dec 2, 2007 in the Philippines) via technical knockout against the mexican challenger Luis Maldonado in the last 1:16 of the eigth round.

In the Philippines, Boomboom Bautista and AJ Bazooka Banal wins against their mexican counterpart held in Araneta Coliseum on December 2, 2007.

Boomboom wins over a unanimous decision over Antonio Meza for WBO Interconental superbantamweight title improving to 24-1 win-loss with 17 KO record. 

The bazooka also impressingly showed his power when He stopped Jovanny Soto at 2:15 in the ninth round. He still undefeated in his pro boxing career with 16 wins (13KO) record.

Finally, Its Marquez vs. Pacquiao on March 15, 2008…

The second fight of Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Paquiao was finally set on March 15, 2008 in Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. This was announced by Golden Boy Promotion and Top Rank Promotions last thursday. Reported in ESPN boxing website.(http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=3133494)

This will be a must to see and exciting fight of the year. Am sure Filipinos is once again pause in a moment, forget anything (poverty, unemployment, rebellion, mutiny, politics etc.) just to focus and cheer the true living Filipino hero.

David Diaz will also fighting on the undercard in 135 Lbs. which possibly the next opponent of Manny on July 2008. The promoters also said that it is possible to happen a Pacquiao-Dela Hoya fight on September at 147 Lbs. 

Let’s just wait and see what’s gonna happen next, For all of us Filipinos believe and trust Pacqiao in boxing cause He already proved that. But still He has so many years to show the world that He is inevitable in His weight category.

Open letter to the Officials and Leaders of the Municipalities surrounding Lake Mainit

The Mayors, Vice Mayors and Sanguniang Bayan Members of the Municipalities of Mainit, Alegria, Kitcharao, Santiago, Tubay, and Jabonga:

Dear Sirs and Madams,

We, the citizens of Lake Mainit, have seen the devastating effect of the Janitor Fish to the Rivers of Marikina and Agusan Marsh, thanks to the excellent documentation of GMA7’s i-Witness.

We can still prevent this from happening to our beloved Lake Mainit, if we act together as one true community, as soon as possible.

We therefore appeal to your leadership to act on this potential devastation and mobilize resources and communities to create a comprehensive community response.

The online community of Mainitnons and Surigaonons, through the Pidjanga Blog (www.pidjanga.blogspot.com), has identified the following possible solutions for your consideration:

1. Comprehensive Multi-Municipality Information and Education Campaign - Through the help of the Lake Mainit Development Authority (LMDA), the municipalities of Mainit, Alegria, Kitcharao, Santiago, Tubay, and Jabonga will have a comprehensive community information and education campaign to raise awareness about the reality of the Janitor Fish, how it can potentially destruct the ecosytem of Lake Maint, and how the communities can prevent this.

2. Creation of Municipal Ordinances – to support the above Information and Education Campaign, and identify sanctions to those who will be caught putting janitor fish in the lake or in the rivers surrounding the lake.

3. Organization of Community Citizens Watch Groups - to conduct regular surveillance activities around the lake and its tributaries.

4. Joint Surigao and Agusan Provincial Surveillance – to conduct province-wide inspections of Pet Fish Stores and disallow the sale of Janitor Fish.
